Matched Donation & Box Tops

Good Evening All

As some of you may have heard (maybe not all)...we were able to receive matching funds dollar for dollar from the Snack and Paint Night.  California Multimodal LLC agreed to match our funds 100%.  That means our $720.00 in raised funds was matched with another $720.00 in matched funds!

This puts us very close to the school goal of needing an additional 12 tablets for the 1:1 technology next year.  We are now only 4 tablets shy of this goal.

In other great news the Box Tops are off to a great start this year.  With just a few months under our belts we have already gathered enough for $60.00.  Lots of credit goes to Nichole Stern for getting this program set up and managing it for the school.  Credit is also due to all the wonderful families clipping and turning in these Box Tops.

Such an easy way to help your school!  Keep up the good work and don't forget to save them over the upcoming Spring Break and Summer too.

Thank you again to everyone!

Blessings!

Snack & Paint - Success

It all came together!

A very large thank you to Kim Tener for her patient painting tutorial and to everyone who chose to join us on Saturday for the Snack & Paint event.  It was a great success.

Thank you to all the PTL representation at the event as well:  Rosemary Warner, Melanie Byma, Nichole Stern, Christy Simpson, Amber Lee, Becky Jones and Gabe Pratoussy.

We raised over $700.00 for the 1 to 1 technology needed for our upcoming 4/5 class next year.

I am adding some photos of the event to supplement what others have already provided on our Facebook Posting.  The response was great and by suggestion we are now in the talk to do a Kid Friendly version next year.

Keep your eyes out for our next event!

Upcoming Events

·         Snack & Paint Night – Saturday March 18: We received donations that have almost covered the cost of this event, so most the “profits” from this event will go to the technology fund. To allow more parents to attend, Rosemary Warner will be reaching out to Emma to see if she would be willing to provide childcare to a limited number of children.  We will ask families to donate $5 per child for childcare during the event. If we meet our limited capacity, then we will add an additional person to help provide care.
·         Teacher Appreciation Day/Week (May 1st – May 5th) – we discussed where/how to get the funds for this event, possibly using the box tops or Fred Meyer funds received or having the students/families donate funds to sponsor the event. Looking at doing a week of “little surprises” for the Faculty/Staff of Sonshine Christian Elementary, including all support staff. President Melanie will be sending out an email to start generating additional ideas.
·         Auction – Where & How can the PTL step in to assist and in the future take over this event from the Principal? This year the PTL will step in to help fill in any of the “gaps” in planning and procuring items for the auction. It was discussed that the PTL would take over the Raffle Ticket sales at the auction.
·         For the remainder of the year the PTL will provide help with all the different events that are already planned. Supporting coordination and organizing events, as well as brining fresh ideas to the table.
·         How can we gain recognition for the PTL to gain momentum amongst the parents/families and community...?
o    Create a Blog/Newsletter to email out to Parents/Families
o    Add Blog/Newsletter to the Facebook Page
o    Add Upcoming Events to the Facebook Page
o    Set up a Calendar for All Sonshine events
·         Discussed additional ideas for fundraisers such as a Jog-A-Thon, Read-A-Thon…
·         Asking for donations for snacks for the classrooms and afterschool care so it no longer comes out of the school’s budget.
·         Next PTL Meeting: Thursday, April 20, 2017 @ 6:30 PM. Meeting room TBD

Budget

·         What are our goals?
·         How much do we want to raise & where will the funds go?
·         How many events do we want to do to ensure we achieve are our goals, without overwhelming the families with fundraising events?
·         Provide more visibility to the parents/families about what our goals are, how much we earned from the event and the impact that they had.

Principal’s Report

·         School has received the National Accreditation
·         Auction proceeds will go towards the remodel
·         Still need help with the auction, so please reach out to any contacts you might have for donations
·         1:1 Technology Mission

So we begin......

Good Afternoon Everyone -

First I wanted to say thank you to all the wonderful parents and teachers that came to our first meeting last night (March 10, 2017).  This is an exciting new adventure for us all to undertake and I am anxious to see what we can accomplish together for Sonshine Christian School.  The minutes from the first meeting are being put together and will be posted here soon for all to review.  We have already set a new date for our next meeting and we will be sending out invitations to all for that soon.  It will be in April and a bit later into the evening to allow even more parents to join us if they would like.  If you have ideas, suggestions or would like to join us please do so by reaching one of the Executive Board Committee so we can include you.  Again more data to follow as we get all of this out there for everyone to see and enjoy.
Our mission is simply to support the Sonshine Christian School Mission and be of assistance in coordinating activities and fundraisers for the school and teaching staff.  We need more help too as there are tasks that need people to champion them so if you have a few minutes or are willing we would love to have you.
Keep in touch and watch for more updates soon.

Blessings!

Melanie Byma
